PRIVACY NOTICE

This statement explains how and why we collect personal data about you.

What data do we collect, and why?

The data we collect about you depends on your relationship us.

Volunteers & Freelancers - we keep your name, contact details and signed Intellectual Property Rights forms. This is so that we can manage your work for us, and so we can keep you informed about the project's progress. (NB - if you are a Freelancer, additional personal data may be handled by the Charles Darwin Trust, which is separate from the Wallace Correspondence Project). We would also like to credit you in the Acknowledgements sections of our website and other future publications, although you are free to opt out of this.

Copyright holders - if we have been in contact with you, we will keep a record of your name, contact details, information about the nature of your rights, and your signed Intellectual Property Rights form.

If we have not been in contact with you, we still may also hold your name, contact details and information about the nature of your rights, if these are in the public domain. This is part of our due diligence research on the Intellectual Property ownership for documents included in the project. (NB - If you are a rights holder and are concerned that you have found material on this website which you have not given us permission to use, please see our Takedown Notice).

In both cases, we will keep these records permanently, so that we can meet your expectations with regard to making the material available, online or in print.

Mailing List Subscribers - we keep your name and email address. This is because you have told us that you would like to be kept up-to-date with our Project News. You can opt-out at any time by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ link in any of the emails you have received from us, or by contacting g.beccaloni@wallaceletters.org.

Your rights

You have the right to receive a copy of the data that we hold on you, in a format that is easily accessible.

You have the right to correct and/or update the data we hold on you.

You have the right to object to how we process your data.

As a matter of course, we will delete the data we hold about you when your relationship with us ceases, unless we are required to keep it for Intellectual Property purposes. However, you also have the right to ask us to delete your data at any time. (NB - If you are a Copyright Holder, we may nonetheless have to retain some elements of your data in order to meet our Intellectual Property obligations).
